More Obama

[via ABC News]

Obama says it has to be agreeable to everyone? Well if he “believes” in Jesus, should he not stand for what he claims to believe in? And if he does not believe in what he teaches, how can he call himself a “christian?” He is really just a Christian in name. That, or his doctrine is sort of screwed up…because to be a Christian one must follow Christ. And when asked WWJD, Jesus would not hate gays, true. But Jesus would not support redefining marriage to include gays either. “Hey this is religious!” Of course it is. But every voter (and every candidate) has the freedom in this country to be biased. Religion calls us to be biased, at any rate. And the only thing that would prevent the bias from taking hold is if it lacks general popularity. Apparently, the doctrine Christianity lacks general popularity. Many “christians” are just christians in name. To them, its not about the issues or the belief, it is a tradition. That is the spiritual state of the world today, and coming from a religious Christian’s standpoint, it seems quite tragic and hopeless.

I digress. Going back to the article, I must add that in religious issues, at least for abortion, there are terms that ARE agreeable to everyone. And those are the basic issues of the sanctity of human life. People of all religions know that life is sacred, but the basic difference is in deciding what constitutes a human life. Thats where the real argument is. Leftists say babies in the womb are not human. Centrists say a certain period of time, say 9 months. I’m not going to say an embryo is a human life either, even as a Christian, because scientifically we cannot say an embryo is a human. However, I’m also going to say there comes a point when a fetus in the mother’s stomach is obviously human. (Its obvious when you consider prematurely born babies, especially those removed via cesarean section). And because we do not know where to draw the line, my concern is that we’re risking our humanity; if we’re not afraid to risk human lives, where is our respect for humankind? Have we come to see ourselves as mere beasts?
