So today I was cleaning up my computer, general maintenance…and guess what I found?

TWO YEARS WORTH OF OLD BLOG POSTS. TWO YEARS! I’m so happy. I thought I had lost it all in the big server crash of 08. Apparently not. I seem to have backed up every post up till January 07, which isn’t too bad considering before I thought I only had January 05. But now that I have at least a little old stuff to remember from high school with, I will restore them and then embark upon that long and tedious process of sorting them through categories and tags.

Since the crash, I’ve been making biweekly backups as opposed to annual backups. Its about time I learned to be more responsible with data anyway.

So I lost all posts between 2007/01/18 and 2008/05/22. Great.

I just realized the consequence of not providing incremental page view links: robots can’t find my old posts with my linux guides! I better repost and stuff..

Okay I finally feel like starting the hundred pushup plan (kev’s already on 35…uhrhg) so I did the first day today. I guess I’ll do tues/thurs/sat and rest all the other days. that works out for me cause monday I’m usually pooped, friday I’m usually too lazy to do crap, and sunday is a rest day.

So today I was like…hmm. I need a new laptop because this laptop is barely usable anymore. And so the folks at YC News decided to contribute to my TipJoy and I ended up with $530 in an amazon gift card. All in a days work. Or err… 4 hours.

Guess its time to ask Kev Hsu what laptop to get.

Or maybe I’ll get a desktop to put at work, and then not have a good computer to use at home because I can do without for a while. I’m at either at work, train or running more than home now anyway haha.

At any rate, thanks to the folks over at YC News. So much. =] Don’t know what I’d do without them.

My laptop is officially…well, pretty much unusable. It turns off randomly. I’m running linux, so its not a virus/adware problem. The problem is it overheats and I don’t know why. The fans are working, but I think this problem has been since they replaced my fried graphics card. I don’t have a dell service plan anymore and its like $300 to renew so theres no way I can get this fixed…

Though I have come up with a plan. I’m asking the folks on YC news to help me out. Hopefully that will go well cause my family really can’t afford to get me a new laptop, not when I can make do with my stupid satellite with the cracked LCD which makes it useless and essentially a desktop with 256mb of ram…

Anyway I’ve started a tipjar with tipjoy and put a paypal link there. Maybe I’ll be able to get the gear I need to push on…or maybe I’ll have to wait to save up after my job (probably using this piece of crap and just sucking up the hourly shutdown) and then blow all my money on a laptop. Which would suck cause I have to pay for running shoes and school stuff.. geez.

Well, at work I use my boss’s cooling pad which seems to work mostly okay. A shutdown every hour or so. But the problem is just getting worse and I dont know how much longer I can take this…random shut downs are retarded.

Geez ok this is the culmination of talking to Jesse and Terry about motorcycles. I’m like in love with the Black Kawasaki Ninja 08. Its so l33t… though, all Kawasaki Ninjas pretty much look awesome. As long as its dark colors and has nice rims. They’re usually around $4-6k used, so if I save I can prolly get one before I go to college if I get a joy next year that pays…3x as much as this year. $36/hour? anyone think I can pull it off?

Of course you’re in this for the eye candy.

Ok so I just spent all night redesigning the blog’s layout. Pretty spiffy, if I do say so myself. Pattern from Squidfingers. I came up with the fluid layout idea meself. Wigitized the sidebar so I can add spiffy bits of text…still gotta work on the font and maybe the color of the pattern to make things more legible.

I really wish my old blog wasn’t erased right now…it had so much more content and good essays I was hoping maybe to use for college now that apps are rolling around…now I have to start from scratch.

Its ok though, cause I’m going to churn out a thick pile of essays on my deepest passions, both for fun and also in preparation for writing college essays.

The best part of being a blogger is that you never run out of ideas. (As long as you’re connected, at any rate.)

Dad’s going from Hospital to rehab tomorrow. I spent the day at church, running, then moving beds around the house with the help of Dave Lo and his cousins cause we had to give dad the bed that can be attached with a rail that he can hold…he needs to walk with a walker right now cause hes unbalanced and stuff. Esther spent the whole afternoon up until 11pm in NYC visiting dad. I couldn’t go cause I had to run and take care of David.

Tired…time for bed.

Time is a funny thing. We can move foward, but not backward. We can make foward time move faster through sleep, (during which we’re unconcious, suffer seizures, wake up and suffer amnesia and consider it normal), but we can’t move backward. So when I say something can trancend time, people are like wtf?

We do know however that fame, glory and soul transcends time. We just know it.

And so, my goal in life? Transcend time.

OK so today… was mediocre. I woke up, listened to a relatively uneventful sermon that probably could have been expressed more simply in 5 minutes, and went shopping for dad. Me and Esther got him a Sansa Clip (it was about $60 I think). Then I got this awesome card with Garfield on it. Haha. Its really cool.

Ugh this wordpress theme is so plain…Thats what I get for my first theme design haha.

Well, I’m working on a super-secret new thing. Guess y’all just have to wait and see.

Ah and Sam’s day continues: We collected $93 today, enough for my dad to advance me 32 more to hit that $125 I needed, and plus my own $115 means a $240 slice from slicehost ($20 * 12 = $240). I’m looking forward to having fast hosting for the new rendition of Holmdel Forums…Oh and bad news: we lost the attachment folder. Meaning, everything we’ve ever attached…is now gone. This…stinks, and thats an understatement. Oh well, at least we have the content of our posts…

Speaking of Holmdel Forums, I’ve been throwing around some ideas lately. Since we’re graduating next year, I wonder what everyone would think if I cleaned it up a good bit (take out anything and everything offensive to anyone, all pointless arguments and drama, and perhaps our “Word Association Game”) — and then donated it to the school. I’m sure the school techs are competent enough to install SMF at school and if we load the database, not only will we turn the site completely transparent (therefore quelling the ridiculous rumor that this site was ever for cheating) but we will be giving a huge resource to kids who eventually come to Holmdel High. We’ll have all of Gettis’s studyguides that I wrote, I think we have clayton guides, tons of gym midterm/final study sheets, business fund, drama, ceramics, AP US History outlines/discussions/essay samples…(hmm but that one we’ll have to talk to the teachers about), math studyguides by yours truly and sometimes niti, chem studyguides from Ms. Hoheb’s class last year, language guides for spanish/latin/italian…yeah. Essentially, we leave a ginormous database for them. And perhaps, being the creator of this monster, I’ll get to slap my name on it and leave a legacy in Holmdel before I graduate. How sick is that?

That would be so l33t. Speaking of transparency, I’m really glad our vice principal (who doesn’t want to be named on anything I write so I will refrain from stating it), understands that HolmdelForums is no cheating site. I think thats a direct result of Lisa Yan and Kris Lee’s chat with him earlier in the year when there were uncouth rumors going around. Thats really encouraging.

Luckily for me, Andrew Staniforth is smart. He saved a backup on 4.10.08, which is far more recent than my 3.10.07 backup.

So HolmdelForums will be back as soon as I get enough money to purchase a new server. Which hopefully is tomorrow. If not tomorrow, tuesday. I gotta get enough money by tuesday… finals are friday.
