Allen Gannet + Lauren Duca + DiNicola vs. Sam Liu + Alex Roik + Kevin Kerwin

Ready…FIGHT!

Just kidding. It was pretty good. Allen put up a bit of a fight, though I can’t say the same for Duca or DiNicola, because they seemed to be reading off the Obama website or something. Generally I think the conservatives did well in terms of economy and energy. Healthcare was iffy because the $5000 tax credit idea thing is sort of bleh. I basically defended McCain’s lousy plan by saying that at least he isn’t trying to pay for it by raising taxes (Obama plans to repeal the Bush tax cuts to pay for his plan).

School was boring today. I have so much work! I feel like sleeping. I basically spent the day not paying attention in my classes so that I could read through the entire newspaper (it finally came out!)

It was a bit lame in terms of advertising for the newspaper because we didn’t put up many signs at all. Note to self: go crazy with signs. At least I passed them out willy-nilly at lunch today. Goal: get everyone to read the paper.

The crossword was a failure cause Bassel made it. I’m so gonna make a good one next time. It needs to be more awesome, and have some sort of incentive for doing it at first.

I was sort of disappointed that we didn’t have even one color. I think if we have midnight blue then we can add holmdel spirit ish to our paper or something. Hmm.

Today was totally epic.

It started out with work, which wasn’t very epic at all. I missed all the trains except the 8:14 to hoboken. Finished the parts of Tokyo Drift I never finished, and then looked up and wasn’t sure where the hell I was. Panicked, and 10 minutes later realized I was at the right stop. That was weird. Went to work, got Jesse acquainted with Linux Terminal, helped Ping with slicing layouts, did my work. Lunch - Got a free drink with the subway crossword…which led to another free drink, a bag of chips and a cookie. Hooray!

Then it was practice…thunder and rain. Nuff said, that was good.

9:00pm — Me: “Kev, are we going to see a movie?”

9:45pm — Everyone: “Pineapple express!”

9:50pm — Karl, to the theatre manager: “ARE YOU SERIOUS” (lawl)

Essentially, we got booted out of the theatre because 2 smartasses decided to talk about paying people off to get tommy/joe chen in to see pineapple express (rated R, we’re allowed but none of us were 18 yet so joe and tommy were left stranded…) with the manager of the whole theatre right there…and the manager guy wasn’t so happy about that. We had to get refunds and think about what to do next. So we stood there at the entrance of the multiplex, with nothing to do for like 40 minutes and got the bright idea of crashing at tommy’s. And so we did.

And it was totally epic, because we pulled a really good prank conversation.

But you’ll have to ask someone else for details :P

Sunday. Another day at church…and now I find out minister Jackson is off to do some church-planting. That officially leaves us with…Pastor Paul and Minister Heald. Grrrrreat. I love how the heads of our church are like disappearing.

In other news, [this] is a very good read. Its about how girls should not date startup guys….or if they feel like a bumpy adventure they should. Though I tend to disagree on one point, because some developers don’t like Mac. I personally think Apple is worse than Microsoft in that Bill Gates became a philanthropist…while Steve Jobs just takes a $1 salary…but gets HUGE corporate gifts. Microsoft develops expensive software that gets stolen….Steve makes expensive software and hardware to steal your money at hugely jacked up prices. Microsoft isn’t “OSS-Friendly,” Apple “is” but locks hardware down so tight you can’t change your graphics card. Oh and OSX only runs on Macs, legally at any rate. Way to go, Apple, you startup-friendly bank-robber!

Vive Linux. Compiz-Fusion pwns all graphical interfaces.

Oh today at costco, they had these $1,300 Roland electric pianos. They were really awesome. I wish I had one haha. Then again, I wish I had $1,300.

Interesting read: [Are we losing our minds?] (thanks to google? I know I just about am. I’m upsessed with translating words on goosh haha. so fun.)

While we’re on the subject of losing our minds…good poem.

Solitude
By Ella Wheeler Wilcox
Laugh, and the world laughs with you;
Weep, and you weep alone;
For the sad old earth must borrow its mirth,
But has trouble enough of its own.
Sing, and the hills will answer;
Sigh, it is lost on the air;
The echoes bound to a joyful sound,
But shrink from voicing care.

Rejoice, and men will seek you;
Grieve, and they turn and go;
They want full measure of all your pleasure,
But they do not need your woe.
Be glad, and your friends are many;
Be sad, and you lose them all,—
There are none to decline your nectared wine,
But alone you must drink life’s gall.

Feast, and your halls are crowded;
Fast, and the world goes by.
Succeed and give, and it helps you live,
But no man can help you die.
There is room in the halls of pleasure
For a large and lordly train,
But one by one we must all file on
Through the narrow aisles of pain.

My sentiments exactly.

Wow I had no idea they had a [starcraft cinematic DVD] also. Pretty interesting.

Speaking of Blizzard and games and stuff, Apocalypse is getting geared up for awesomeness. I really can’t wait! I spent like three hours revamping it. I also finished the links for Ambush Networks and Dove Mind.

Too much time on my hands, no?

Obamarama continues: [Via Communist News Network]

What do I think? I think a Obama-McCain Ticket is… Haha. I read an editorial on the Washington Post and it actually sounded like a pretty good idea. Until I knocked myself into reality, remembering that Obama supports infanticide. But its still an intriguing idea. Combine a total rookie with a foreign policy pro, and see what we get. [(Instant withdrawal from Iraq + X Years In Iraq) / (1+3)] = 1/4 the time in Iraq. I say 1+3 because as President Obama would be about 3x more powerful if not more. Of course, I’m pulling this out of my ass as anyone does who thinks of statistics.

OK in another round of geeking, I think I can conclude a couple things.

1) Tipjoy doesnt work. Sorry.
2) A lot of slashdot articles come from YC News. Sort of funny. E.g Goosh Shell.
3) Goosh Shell has so many problems its stupid.
4) I just defaced some nub’s blog and its funny.

Whatever I’m doing I’m seriously going nuts. “I’m never right.” Think about that statement. Were I right about it, I’d be contradicting myself. Were I wrong about it, it’d imply I’m always right, in which case I’d be wrong.

What a beautiful contradiction.

Why am I a neoconservative psychonut?
