So today I was cleaning up my computer, general maintenance…and guess what I found?

TWO YEARS WORTH OF OLD BLOG POSTS. TWO YEARS! I’m so happy. I thought I had lost it all in the big server crash of 08. Apparently not. I seem to have backed up every post up till January 07, which isn’t too bad considering before I thought I only had January 05. But now that I have at least a little old stuff to remember from high school with, I will restore them and then embark upon that long and tedious process of sorting them through categories and tags.

Since the crash, I’ve been making biweekly backups as opposed to annual backups. :) Its about time I learned to be more responsible with data anyway.

So I lost all posts between 2007/01/18 and 2008/05/22. Great.

I just realized the consequence of not providing incremental page view links: robots can’t find my old posts with my linux guides! I better repost and stuff..

7/11, Taquitos, ’nuff said.

Or rather, I went to 7/11 with Dave Sun after running. We ran about 70 minutes: to village school, to park thru Roberts Road. Then we headed to 7/11 for some Taquitos and slurpees. Unfortunately, Dave’s mom called him and asked him where he was and he said 7/11 and she didn’t believe him. Which strikes me as slightly odd, except for maybe the fact that we asked her for the time today and she told us something about 7/11, which reminded me of 7/11, and Dave had Taquitos for lunch today, which reminded me of 7/11, and I was thirsty after the run, which reminded me of 7/11, and I asked Dave if he wanted to go, and off we headed after our run, to 7/11!

Ah I wonder how that ended for him. I get the notion he wasn’t supposed to go. :(

The whole Church was filled with emotion and indescribable feelings today. Minister Jackson is leaving in October and its hard for any church to lose their leader. It doesn’t help that Wendy ah-yi left too, so now we’re basically running around like a headless chicken. I sure hope our Church gets its bearings together and finds some leaders.

Running was sort of fail today. I water-ran for 50 minutes, which was exhausting. Then I went to run with Dave Sun…but we only managed 30 minutes at a horrific pace because I was so sore from water running just 30 minutes before. Oh and then Aaron went with Dave to do one more hill, but I got bored waiting for them (I was going to give Dave a ride home) and so I drove UP, (I know, what the hell?), to the tennis courts and ran down. That was smart. I lost all motivation to run back up to the top of the park, so Aaron drove me and Dave back up to my car.

The Olympic closing ceremony wasn’t nearly as interesting as the opening. The marathon winners had their medals though and I felt so happy for Kenya. Go Kenya!

Today was my last day of work, marking the end of money making fun and the beginning of sorrowful homework. I am really loathe to begin math homework. The only thing I look forward to doing this weekend is finishing “On Writing Well.” In fact it has even inspired me to read Writing Forward by Melissa Donovan again, because some of the tips in the book match what Melissa writes in her blog. I almost feel like beginning an English major, though I know I want to do tech/business when I grow up. Oh well, we can’t win them all.

Running was very fail today. I went with Dave Sun up the start hill…stretched…and down the start hill. He already did it once with Aaron also. So he ran the most out of the three of us today. I guess it wasn’t a running kind of day, not when I worked an hour more than usual.

My laptop got delayed by 2 weeks because the color is backordered. I think I might actually get a refund and wait to buy my laptop because this one is functional again. I updated some drivers and it started working well all of a sudden.

So this Monday I started the book “On Writing Well.” It is…amazing. I love it! I feel this extremely strong urge to write and rewrite old things I’ve written. I see beautiful writing everywhere, and sloppy writing where I didn’t notice it before. My word choice has improved from just reading this book. Priority #1 as of now: write in active voice.

Unfortunately this makes blogging every day more of a chore, now that I’m reading and re-reading everything I write.

Work has been the same as always. I went in late twice this week already though, because I overslept both Tuesday and today thanks to the Monday long run and the run yesterday. Monday we did 75 minutes in the nature trails. Yesterday was a breezy 45 minute run through the open woods in Thompson and a little bit of the reservoir trail. All in all, sore-fying, if thats a word.

Okay so maybe my word choice hasn’t improved all that much. But I’ll learn, you’ll see.

I do agree with Zinsser that exclamation marks are not to be used cheaply. Freaking typetards.

Today was totally epic.

It started out with work, which wasn’t very epic at all. I missed all the trains except the 8:14 to hoboken. Finished the parts of Tokyo Drift I never finished, and then looked up and wasn’t sure where the hell I was. Panicked, and 10 minutes later realized I was at the right stop. That was weird. Went to work, got Jesse acquainted with Linux Terminal, helped Ping with slicing layouts, did my work. Lunch - Got a free drink with the subway crossword…which led to another free drink, a bag of chips and a cookie. Hooray!

Then it was practice…thunder and rain. Nuff said, that was good.

9:00pm — Me: “Kev, are we going to see a movie?”

9:45pm — Everyone: “Pineapple express!”

9:50pm — Karl, to the theatre manager: “ARE YOU SERIOUS” (lawl)

Essentially, we got booted out of the theatre because 2 smartasses decided to talk about paying people off to get tommy/joe chen in to see pineapple express (rated R, we’re allowed but none of us were 18 yet so joe and tommy were left stranded…) with the manager of the whole theatre right there…and the manager guy wasn’t so happy about that. We had to get refunds and think about what to do next. So we stood there at the entrance of the multiplex, with nothing to do for like 40 minutes and got the bright idea of crashing at tommy’s. And so we did.

And it was totally epic, because we pulled a really good prank conversation.

But you’ll have to ask someone else for details :P

WTF was fail! (World Tournament Frisbee!) Yeah. Only 2 and a half teams showed (the half-team was us XC guys) so basically that was that. Fail. Epic fail. There were supposed to be 8 teams…I don’t know what happened. Ended up playing a game for fun with them and then doing a 40 minute run with Stefan and Ollie…then we went to the Subway/Saigon/Pizza plaza to get subs (and pizza for stefan since he can’t eat subs…weirdo) lol. So yeah. That was pretty good. Then I went back to the park cause I had to pick up Esther…

Hmm that was basically my day because by that time it was 4. Rewatched some olympics opening stuff I missed with my sister, had some dinner, played smash with my little brother for like 2 hours, then went to my room to loaf around and download some stuff.

Good day, time to sleep.

Senior pictures today, so I couldn’t go to work. Uhgh. I ended up working from home (1:20pm-7:20pm). I seem to be more productive at home. I guess its cause I use 2 computers at once (and I’ve just discovered that dreamweaver isn’t as bad as I’ve been brainwashed by myself to feel about it…ever since I stopped using windows, that is).

Maybe I’ll install it on my linux.

Brooks Ghost came today, blue colorway cause the other one is gay. I haven’t given them a test run yet cause I had to work until 7:20 but I will break them in by walking them tomorrow in NYC. I just hope they don’t get all black and ugly from NYC cause the place is FILTHY. Uhgh.

Oh and I get paid for travel tomorrow. Since I already used my paychecks to pay back Esther/Mom, this money will go to that laptop I bought (with an advance from my mom’s credit card haha) and I’ll pay back Esther $200 more. that leaves mom to pay back Esther another $220 that she owes her and we can call it even…of course, I still have to stop by at the bank to pick up the cash that was wired in from the tipjar. :)

Okay I finally feel like starting the hundred pushup plan (kev’s already on 35…uhrhg) so I did the first day today. I guess I’ll do tues/thurs/sat and rest all the other days. that works out for me cause monday I’m usually pooped, friday I’m usually too lazy to do crap, and sunday is a rest day.

With the help of the YC donations and my lowly $400 first paycheck, I was able to get a CyberPower Xplorer notebook (its green) for a very reasonable price and with some good features that will probably last me most of college. So thats settled. This laptop might see retirement from the front lines.

Ah this weekend was decent. Today I finally got in a run for which I felt very comfortable (40 minutes with Aaron but first run all week my legs didn’t cramp up. Doing my exercises and icing helps). It also helps to know my Brooks Ghosts are coming Tuesday. So thats good.

Saturday I spent the morning with David at Costco fooling around and buying groceries. Saturday afternoon I spent…fundraising for that laptop and I was going to run but fell asleep. Grr.

Sunday - church, lunch, another really long nap, running, chores, buy laptop, sleep. Oh and college apps somewhere between there. I’m not very far in those though. Gotta pick up the pace…
